Nate Smith - Director / Head Instructor

Nate’s experience is multifaceted including roles as an educator, administrator and mountain guide. His various professional pursuits have involved him with organizations including the University of Utah, Weber State University, Utah Mountain Adventures (formerly EXUM Utah), Wilderness Medicine of Utah and the American Mountain Guides Association.  Nate’s academic and research interests contribute to the link between outdoor recreation and living a healthy lifestyle.  Nate's recent interactions with MED's services in Kenya has earned him a lifetime achievement award with the Kenyan Wildlife Service naming him an "Honorary Warden." Nate’s dedication to the positive growth of the outdoor industry and all involved is evident by his demeanor and strong work ethic.
