Chris McFarland, B.S.
Chris grew up hiking, paddling, and attempting to climb the soft sandstone around his hometown of Vernal, Utah. In the winter of 2008, after bouncing around the west working at various National Parks, Chris settled down in Ogden, Utah and enrolled at Weber State University. He quickly got involved with the universities Outdoor Program, discovered how much he enjoyed sharing his passion for an outdoor lifestyle, and began teaching and guiding student trips. Chris graduated with a bachelors degree in Zoology in 2011 and relocated to Salt Lake City. Since then he has continued to develop his career in climbing education and is currently the Climbing School Director for Momentum Climbing. For Chris, the most important part of any outdoor adventure is the ability to unplug from our digital lives, reconnect with the rock and trees, and build new bonds and friendships though shared experiences. When he is not climbing or hiking, Chris can probably be found woodworking, spending time with his fiancé Tracy, or happily immersed in a good book.
