FELLOWS & INTERNS
The MED Fellowship and Internship Program educates and empowers the next generation of outdoor industry professionals. Through structured mentorship and intensive program immersion, MED Fellows and Interns develop their skills as collaborators, educators, and problem solvers throughout their fellowship or internship experience.
Fellows and Interns interface with students and clients from diverse backgrounds-- you might be teaching wilderness medicine to Nicaraguan high school students or Nepalese mountain guides, multi-pitch efficiency skills to Chilean rock climbers, or risk management to Kenyan safari operators. Regardless of the program, all Fellows and Interns demonstrate a high degree of cultural sensitivity and social tact, and maintain a sense of humor in the face of unexpected obstacles.
Each of the MED Alliance divisions offers its own Fellowship or Internship programming-- Outdoor School Fellows and Interns will work in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains and beyond, interfacing directly with students and developing mountain sense and client care skills under the mentorship of our highly qualified instructor team. Remote Medicine Fellows and Interns often travel internationally, accompanying expert wilderness medicine instructors to lead programs in Nepal, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and beyond. Many Fellows and Interns choose to extend their time abroad to participate in climbing, trekking or alpinism programs through our Topo Expeditions adventure travel division.
The MED Alliance believes strongly in rewarding excellence, and many MED Fellows and Interns go on to join the MED instructor or administrative teams in long-term capacities.
