RESPONDER
RECERTIFICATION
OVERVIEW
The MED Wilderness First Responder - Recertification (WFRR) course makes use of lecture and practical-based learning both in and outside of the classroom, and is geared towards students who will be working, guiding, or recreating in remote locations with others.
The concepts and skills reviewed in this course will prepare you to prevent, identify and stabilize a diverse range of injuries and illnesses associated with recreation in remote places where adaptations to harsh environments, limited access to resources and communication, and personal/group safety must be made.
This course is minimally 24 hours in length and is accepted as a method of recertification for a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) who has earned their certification within the previous 3 years.

SAMPLE SCHEDULE
Day 1: 8:00am-6:00pm
Day 2: 8:00am-6:00pm
Day 3: 8:00am-6:00pm
A 1 hour lunch break is provided each day of this course.

CERTIFICATION & RECIPROCITY GUIDELINES
Our Wilderness First Responder Recertification (WFRR) course involves a minimum of 24 hours of contact time. A written exam and possible practical exam is associated.
Upon successful completion of the course components, including the exams, a student is granted a 3 year Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.
A 1 year grace period DOES NOT exist beyond the regular 3 year certification period. A student is not considered, "Current," or, "Certified," beyond their 3 year certification period.
If a student goes beyond their 3 year certification period, they are required to re-take the entire Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course.
RECERTIFICATION GUIDELINES
To recertify a student can:
OPTION 1

If a student's Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification has been issued by MED Remote Medicine (MED) and is within the 3 year certification period, they may either participate in a MED 16 hour Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course or a MED 24 hour Wilderness First Responder Recertification (WFRR) course. Upon successful completion of either courses components, the student becomes recertified for an additional 3 years from the recertification course end date.
OPTION 2

If a student's Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification has been issued by another provider and it involved a minimum of 70 hours of contact time, they are allowed to participate in a MED Remote Medicine (MED) 24 hour Wilderness First Responder Recertification (WFRR) course and upon successful completion, become recertified for a 3 year period from the recertification course end date. This opportunity to recertify with MED must be completed prior to the end of a previous 3 year certification period or a 1 year grace period if the certification involves such. Upon successful completion of a MED 24 hour WFRR, a MED WFR certification is granted with the same certification guidelines outlined above.
